E5 Long-Distance Hiking Trail on the Tschögglberg high plateau
One of the most beautiful sections of the European long-distance hiking trail E5 runs through the scenic Merano region, crossingon the Tschögglberg high plateau and continuing on to Bolzano. At an altitude of around 2,000 metres, this stage links the villages of Hafling, Vöran, Mölten and Jenesien, offering outstanding hiking experiences in the heart of South Tyrol.
Wide alpine meadows, gentle high-altitude trails and breathtaking views define this part of the route. Hikers are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the Dolomites, the Texel Group and the Sarntal Valley. The Tschögglberg sections of the E5 are considered safe and can be walked almost year-round, weather permitting, making them suitable for both leisure hikers and experienced long-distance walkers.
Access points to the trail are available in Mölten, at the Möltner Joch pass and on the Salten plateau.
